Today on All Things Testosterone, I’m chatting with Scott Brunner, CEO of the Alliance for Pharmacy Compounding. We’ll be chatting about the unjust attack the FDA and USP are waging against compounded hormone therapies. The “FDA assault on compounded medications, if you will.

The United States Pharmacopeia (USP) has been around for over 200 years. They “help protect patient safety and improve the health of people around the world.” They have a hand in everything from determining drug names and classifications, to determining the actual weights and measured used in medicine. Basically they provide standards and rules for all things medicine which the FDA then adopts and enforces. In theory, they should remain unbiased since the FDA enforces the standards the USP creates, but the USP is actually under immense pressure by the FDA.

Not only is the FDA war against compounded hormone therapy based on a report that the FDA created themselves, but the FDA has members within USP’s Compounded Expert Committee. How’s that for conflict of interest? I urge you to listen to today’s episode and decide for yourself the level of threat posed by the forthcoming potential changes to Chapter 795 and 797.

Listen in as Scott and I discuss the proposed changes to regulations, Beyond Use Dates, how the changes hurt the patients, why the FDA is targeting hormones, and more!

Scott Believes that the FDA may under estimate our passion and need for these treatments. Now’s the time to join the APC’s fight against the FDA assault on compounded medications.
